A Quick Update

Last we “met,” I was feeling much like the garden looked about a month ago. This is how it looks in the Spring when you just never get around to doing a Fall clean-up. Granted, some plants were purposely left to reseed but most times, I do manage to do a better job at cleaning up. Not last year, however. Funny thing is, I can’t put my finger on why. Let’s blame it on an abnormally harsh Winter:)

Faithfully, the Oriental Poppies began to show their leaves around the same time. It’s difficult to focus on their struggle with that mayhem in the background. Ironically, I can relate.

One month later and the Nanking Cherry is in full bloom and things are looking up:) Unfortunately last year we never got to harvest the tasty berries. They were a no show. Perhaps, this year:)

And, the Oriental Poppies are flourishing.

Much like the Primrose, Marion and I are standing tall ready to weather the inconsistency of the season.

Hopefully, the bees are on our side:)

It took a bit of work and the patience of Job but the garden is looking much better. I think I deserve a trip to Idaho to visit my daughter and the kids before I tackle...

...the unveiling of the bird bath. Marion says she wants to help, lol...it may be a while before we get around to it though. When I return from Idaho, I'll be heading down to New York for an indefinite amount of time. Not to worry, Marion will already be there. Her grand-daughter is coming to get her tomorrow. She'll be staying with her down in New York while I'm away.

I'm not trying to be cagey, I'm just not at liberty to give much explanation as to what is going on in our little corner of the world.

We're just keeping our heads on straight and enjoying the moments. You do the same, Louise:)

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. I can't tell you how much they have meant to us during this trying time. We really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Of course now Marion wants to crochet each and every one of you a hat, lol...Now look what you started!!!

  8. Hi Louise....
So glad to hear from you...Your garden is getting back to it's beauty. I am glad that you are taking some time to visit with your daughter and family. I know the two weeks that I was away from the blogging world and FB was very well needed. Now I am back up to speed. Sometimes we just need to unplug and take time for ourselves. Marion is a hoot and God bless you both. Good that you will be visiting NY (sister) when you get back to Idaho. You take all the time you need to get back your mojo as they say...Miss you but I for one understand. Have a safe trip and enjoy...Tell Marion as well to have a good trip too. Enjoy and relax...have a good week..
    Hugs...Dottie :)

  18. Hi, Louise and Marion,

Wonderful to hear from you again! Love the pictures of your garden. Here in Manitoba we don’t do any planting until about June 1 - there’s a risk of frost at night until then. We’ve raked the thatch and our trees are starting to bud. Also the rhubarb and bulbs are beginning to appear.

Have a great time visiting your family! Hugs! Marg
