World Pasta Day Round-Up

Well, it's finally here. World Pasta Day has descended upon us in all its glory! I'm ecstatic! How about you?

Before I present you with our incredible collection of World Pasta Day dishes, I would like to personally thank you all for participating in my blogoversary Pasta Party and the Cookbook Give-Away too! Thank YOU!

When I impulsively decided to "throw" the Pasta Party, never did I imagine you "guys" would create twenty-four amazing dishes. Silly me. I should have known better:)

Okay, enough with the gushing. Let's stuff our faces!

#1. "Mama’s Homemade Manicotti"-Dottie
#2. Straw and Hay Pasta-Liz
#3. Mark's Goulash-Channon
#4. Chocolate Chip Noodle Kugel-Janet (not pictured, Janet will have a "real" picture today:)

Did you notice, up in the right hand corner, that all the above delicious looking temptations are numbered? That's because not only are we celebrating world Pasta Day with a Pasta Party, we are also commemorating the "birthday" of this blog which was way back in October of 2007. How are we doing that? You'll see:)

#5. Spaghetti with Tomatoes and Black Olives-Alida
#6. Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter Sauce-Barbara
#7. Can Can Casserole-Poppy (not pictured, Poppy contributed a recipe right out of the 70s, go see:)

Chicken and Shrimp make these pasta dishes sing:)

#8. Chicken Chow Mein-Anne
#9. Shrimp Pasta in a Foil Package-Mich
#10. Linguine with Shrimp and Oven-Roasted Tomatoes-Joyce

Pasta and Vegetables! Who could resist? Not Chaya:)

#11. Pasta with Mushrooms-Chaya
#12 Roasted Sweet Potato Pasta-Chaya

A Novelty and a Classic.

#13 White Lasagna Cupcakes-Nee
#14 Cheesy Spaghetti Carbonara-Shirley

#15 Vegetarian Enchilada Pasta-Johanna
#16 Pasta Gratin-Gloria
#17 Spaghetti and Meat Sauce-Marjie

#18 Penne alla Vodka-John
#19 Honey-seared Salmon with Coriander Noodles-Pam
#20 Summer Fresh Pasta-Linda

Pretty impressive huh? We have more. You'll notice that two of the entrees below are from the same person, Marjie. Marjie had a birthday this week so she is determined to win the give-away. Here are two more dishes from Marjie. Actually, not only did she make Italian Bread to go with all these delicious pasta dishes, she also contributed Pasta with White clam Sauce. A personal favorite of yours truly:) Snuggled in between, we have Lena's Creamy Miso Pasta which sounds quite intriguing. Don't you think?

#21 Angel Hair with Tomatoes-Marjie
#22 Creamy Miso Pasta -Lena
#23 Italian Bread -Marjie

It just wouldn't be a Pasta Party without Mac N' Cheese, now would it?

#24 Bacon and Butternut Mac n Cheese-Inger

What do you serve for dessert at a Pasta Party? Spaghetti-Eis! Of course! Now you too can make A Spaghetti Sundae just like they do in NYC!

"Spaghetti-Eis is a German ice cream made to look like a plate of spaghetti. It was created by Dario Fontanella in the late 1960s in Mannheim, Germany. In the dish, vanilla ice cream is extruded through a modified Spätzle press or potato ricer, giving it the appearance of spaghetti. It is then placed over whipped cream and topped with strawberry sauce (to simulate tomato sauce) and either coconut flakes, grated almonds, or white chocolate shavings to represent the parmesan cheese."

I know you all are probably stuffed, so I'll try to make this quick. First, I would like to thank Suchi from Kitchen Karma, Little Joy and Edith from Rumbling Tummy for their interest in the Pasta Party. I'm sorry you "guys" couldn't make it. I'll gladly add your pasta links to the round-up when you have them ready:)

Late Comers:
Edith-Ibérico Ham with Creamy Mushroom Pasta
Little Joy-Chicken & Roasted Capsicum Pasta
Nellie-Beef-Macaroni Casserole
Suchi-Spaghetti with King Prawns and Tomato

Now for the winners! I have to tell you, as I added the numbers to the random sequence generator, I was excited for each and every one of you:) Alas, there can only be four winners...Good Luck to all of you.

Congratulations to all the winners! You have each won a $35.00 eGift Card from Powell's Books! You can redeem your gift card for anything you like as long as it's at Powell's. I'll be contacting the winners with the details either tonight or Saturday morning. I'll be filling you in on my wonderful experience with Powell's on Sunday. I don't know about you but I'm ready for a nap:)

Thank you again everyone for joining the Pasta Party. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. You "guys" never cease to amaze me with your creative culinary talents. Simply amazing! Louise

P.S. I want to give a shout out to Grace and congratulate her on being featured in latest issue of Taste of Home Magazine. Grace is hostess of the blog A Southern Grace. She was chosen as the blog they love in their Mixing Bowl section! You Go Girl!

  15. Louise, What a fun party. I wish it was all laid out on my dining table. I would feel like Henry VIII. I thought I could pick a favorite but no. I would like to try the Spaghetti-Eis. I was just wondering, a few years back, on National Pasta Day, someone in Europe hung spaghetti all over a tree and claimed it was a spaghetti tree. Did you see it on the national evening news? It was sooooo funny. I hope to be able to join another party soon.
    Blessings, Ginger
